1990 Trump Castle Appearance

In 1990, I had the chance to perform in my very first big stage show at Trump Castle in Atlantic City. I was booked for a 10-day run—two shows every night—in their nightly variety show Tonight Live, hosted by the legendary Catskills comedian Freddie Roman. It was fun to interact with the audience not only through my Finger Fitness exercises, but also by demonstrating the Chinese Metal Therapy Balls, doing pencil pushups, and showing a few other little hand-skill surprises. Sharing the stage with someone that seasoned and sharp was like getting a masterclass in timing, presence, and live interaction. Night after night, I learned how to present my material in a way that fit the rhythm of a real stage show, and that experience helped shape how I’ve handled on-camera and on-stage performance ever since.

I never really saw myself as an “entertainer,” but I always tried to be entertaining—and this show pushed me to grow in ways I didn’t expect. Looking back, those ten days were a rare opportunity to perform my “Finger Ballet” routine with a live band and to hold my own alongside a veteran performer like Freddie Roman.
