Absence seizure is seen in school going age children 4-10yrs of age. It is more commonly seen in girls. Children suddenly stops all activity and looks as if he/she is staring or just looks blank. It usually lasts 5 to 20seconds. EEG is diagnostic as it shows typical 3Hz spike and wave pattern. Correct identification will give complete seizure freedom with right choice of medicine.
