Ludwig LB416 Black Beauty 14 x 5 Brass Snare Drum, Audio Demo by Drumazon, Feat Rocky Morris

Hey everyone in the video we are talking a look at the iconic and legendary 14 x 5 10 lug Black Beauty LB416. The Black Beauty is one of the most recorded snare drums of all time. The Black Beauty is constantly requested by A list record producers across the globe for their recording sessions. Many professional drummers regardless of endorsements also have at least one if not a few models of the Black Beauty as apart of their snare collections.

Our demonstration starts with the snare placed in a musical context, then we show you some isolated drum mixes with the snare recorded at middle and low tuning registers. In some lower tunings we are using a Noble & Cooley Drum Taco to control some overtones, this damping method is standard in Live and Studio environments, we feel this is a fair way to properly show the drum for the application.

Like with all our audio demos there is no limiting to enhance the dynamic response, no digital reverbs are used, the ambience is naturally captured with room mics. We recommend listening through headphones or speakers for the best detail.

The music used on this video is not a backing track. Rocky put the drums down first and the music was created and recorded afterwards, much like in a studio session to help demonstrate a more authentic feel.
