In last week’s class, our students explored the fascinating world of termites — their incredible mounds, engineering marvels, and what their abilities show us about God’s purposeful design in creation. We learned:

How termite mounds regulate temperature and airflow with remarkable precision.

Why, from a scientific and engineering standpoint, termites shouldn’t be capable of what they do — yet they consistently achieve things that rival human technology.

At the end of the video (a portion I didn’t show in class), the host comments that “tiny animals beat us to that technology by millions of years” and that “all you need…is the awesome power of evolution.” These statements come from an evolutionary worldview, suggesting termites gradually developed these abilities over millions of years.

We discussed this viewpoint in class—highlighting that what we observe in nature points in the opposite direction. The termite’s complex systems of ventilation, cooperation, building, and colony specialization appear fully formed and functional, which aligns most logically with termites being designed by God, not slowly assembled by chance.
