Alzheimer's disease, a disease named after Dr Alzheimer, is quietly affecting many elderly people and their families. It is a degenerative disease of the central nervous system, characterised by chronic progressive memory impairment, cognitive decline, personality changes and language disorders, which seriously affects the patient's social, occupational and daily life abilities. With the aging of the population, Alzheimer's disease has increasingly become a focus of social concern.

Prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease is crucial. Early identification of precursor symptoms, such as memory loss, personality changes and language disorders, and timely medical treatment are the keys to effectively slowing down the progression of the disease. Meanwhile, various sectors of the community have been exploring and promoting the development of relevant preventive and treatment measures, including scientific research, policy formulation and public education.

It is gratifying to note that in recent years, as public awareness of Alzheimer's disease has increased, more and more social resources have been devoted to this area. Through a variety of forms such as scientific lectures, documentaries and news reports, people have begun to understand this disease more deeply, pay attention to the survival of patients, and actively participate in prevention and care work.

We would like to call on all sectors of the community to continue to strengthen their concern and support for Alzheimer's disease, and work together to promote the development of related research and services, so as to contribute to the health and well-being of the elderly population. The public is also reminded to pay attention to their own health and that of their family members, and to recognise and respond to the potential risks of Alzheimer's disease in a timely manner.
