Modified Railroad Crossing That Gate Runners Can't Run Around. Grain Train In Lexington, Kentucky. Trains With DPUs And Long Trains In Burgin, Kentucky. Norfolk Southern Trains In Kentucky On The Rat Hole Line. Close Look At Derail, Defect Detector And Rail.
The first train is a grain train at a railroad crossing that was modified not long ago to prevent cars from going around the crossing gates. I know a few other places that could use this design. Have you ever seen a crossing like this?
Then we go a few miles southwest of Lexington to Burgin, Kentucky. Here we see some really fast trains that are booking. Some of the trains were really long and had DPU locomotives. We also see some BNSF foreign power on the trains.
I also show a track derail that looks more like a track switch instead of a derail. This is to prevent unwanted equipment from entering the main line and causing a huge accident. We also see the track side defect detector and a close up of the rail.
I rode up here with Scott, @1960gambit and I used my new camera for the first time. We got these trains, a few others and then went to Wilmore, Kentucky. That will be in Part 2.
