STORYLINE
Nepalese Army chief General Chhatra Man Singh Gurung began a week-long visit to India on Monday, his first foreign trip after assuming office in September.
He was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour in New Delhi and held talks with his Indian counterpart General Deepak Kapoor.
During his visit to India, Gurung will receive the title of Honorary General of the Indian Army and will also attend a passing-out parade of the Indian Army at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun.
Gurung is a former student of the Academy.
India has recently agreed to resume military cooperation with Nepal, suspended in 2005 after former Nepalese King Gyanendra assumed absolute power.
The decision to resume non-lethal military supplies to Nepal was taken during the recent security talks held between Nepalese and Indian officials in Kathmandu.
