Kayku Kasoor | कैकु कसूर | Uttarakhand Folk Song | Indie Folk | Nikhil Saklani | nikzard | Official Lyrics Video | Translation | Meaning

Embark on a soul stirring journey with my debut original, "Kayku Kasoor" (कैकु कसूर), which translates to 'Who's responsible' in English. This heartfelt song reflects the struggles of Uttarakhand, from forest fires to vanishing traditions and submerged villages. Losing my own village because of Tehri Dam construction was one of the inspirations behind this song.

This song sheds light on the challenges faced by our state without aiming to criticize or point fingers ar any person, place or organization. It’s an effort to ignite a sense of love and brotherhood for Uttarakhand, fostering awareness about the less-discussed issues that plague our region. The call is for us, the people, to unite and collectively step forward in safeguarding the rich tapestry of Uttarakhand—its culture, heritage, and environment.

🌍 Journey to the United Nations:
In a momentous milestone, "Kay Ku Kasoor" premiered at the United Nations COP-28 in Dubai on December 1, 2023, as part of the documentary "Erosion" by the South Asian Forum For Environment (SAFE).

Gratitude extends to Syamantak Ghosh, director of Erosion; Vibhanshu Kaparwan for unwavering support; Vinay Deep Painuly for the poetic lyrics; Sharan Kumar for the exceptional music production; Anshul Lakhera for the enchanting flute pieces: and Ajita Bhandari for helping me with the video and visualizations. Heartfelt thank you also to family for their constant support. 🙏
