X-linked means that the gene in question is located on the X-chromosome (sex chromosome).
Dominant means that a single copy of the disease-associated mutation is enough to cause the disease.
XAXA= Normal XAY= Normal
XAXa = Disease XaY = Disease
XaXa = Disease
Main features of X- Linked Dominant Inheritance
a. Never passed from father to son.
b. Affected male only produces affected daughters.
c. Affected female (heterozygous) produces 50% normal and 50% affected offspring.
d. Females are more likely to affected since they have 2X chromosomes, so have 2 chances of inheriting the mutated allele.
e. Skipping of generation
