The quarter-finals match between Sweden and the Netherlands was possibly the most exciting game in the football tournament at the Antwerp 1920 Summer Olympics.

It all began when the Dutch team scored the first goal with Bernardus Groosjohan in the first 10 minutes of the match. The Swedish team then replied decisively with three goals. Holland still scored a second goal at the 44th minute, which left Sweden ahead by a single goal advantage at half-time.

The second-half of the match also kept fans at the edge of their seats. After a goal from each team, Sweden kept a 4x3 lead until the 88th minute, when the Netherlands tied with a penalty kick goal scored by Jacob Hulder. With the final whistle by Czechoslovakian referee Josef Fanta, the match would be decided in extra-time.

At the 115th minute, Johannes de Natris scored the goal that qualified the Dutch to the semi-finals. The Netherlands would later be beaten by hosts Belgium in the semi-final match and finish the tournament in third place, taking the Olympic bronze medal.
