The McKinsey Solve Game, or the McKinsey Problem Solving Game (PSG), is the online assessment that McKinsey & Company demands its applicants to pass before it advances them to the case interview stage. In the McKinsey Solve Game, you currently face three Solve games: the Ecosystem Game, the Redrock Study and the novel Ocean Treatment of Microbes Management game.

In this interactive practice video tutorial, you can play a complete simulation of an entire Ecosystem Game scenario (also: Ecosystem Placement Game, Ecosystem Building Game), allowing you to practice the skills that McKinsey demands from you in the McKinsey Solve game. Step-by-step, you will fulfill the two game’s objectives: 1. Build a sustainable food chain composed of 8 species selected from the 39 species dealt to you 2. Select a suitable location for them to survive together. After going through this free Ecosystem Game simulation, you will be familiar with the game rules and the special challenges you need to pay attention to during your McKinsey Solve test. Finally, I teach you the optimal sequence on how to run through McKinsey’s Ecosystem Game.

To prepare you for the Redrock Study component of the McKinsey PSG, I take you through a series of interactive practice questions authored by none other than McKinsey itself. For this Redrock study training part, we draw on official McKinsey Problem Solving Test (PST) mock questions. I will give further clues on what to pay attention to during your Redrock study assessment and which question types you ought to prepare yourself for.

This year, McKinsey has added a third Solve game to its McKinsey Problem Solving Game bundle. It is dubbed McKinsey’s Ocean Treatment, Ocean Clean-Up or Micro Management game. In the Ocean Treatment game, you need to compose a set of bacteria that have characteristics that fit into the ocean section they will be dispatched to for cleaning of that ocean section. In this video tutorial, I reveal for you what awaits you in McKinsey’s new third Solve game.

McKinsey’s former Plant Defense Game was removed from the Solve game in early 2023, hence to be mindful of your time, it is not anymore covered here.
