the first seven years of two giant sequoias (update from "the first five years")

Описание к видео the first seven years of two giant sequoias (update from "the first five years")

The biggest tree in the World is the Sequoia Gigantea. The world record holder is the General Sherman Tree located in the Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park in California, USA. By volume, it is the largest known living single stem tree on Earth.

In 2006 our family visited Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. In the Kings Canyon Visitor Center we bought some Sequoia Gigantea seeds. Back in the Netherlands we planted those seeds and two little Sequoia Giganteas started to grow. In the year 4500 one of those two will be the new world record holder. These photos were taken during the first seven years.

Until april 2013 the trees grew at home in pots. In the spring of 2013 I donated the trees to our municipality. They planted the trees in a small park. The biggest tree is now 120cm. Although it has some brown needles it's doing well. The small one in 8o cm tall. Unfortunately it has many brown needles and I am afraid it won't survive. But we will see!
