How To Conquer Mount Everest: Children Study Climbing In Remote Nepal School | Never Out Of Reach S2

In the small agricultural village of Simigaun, located 2,084 metres high on the slopes of Nepal’s Rolwaling Valley, every child shares the same distinct dream – to conquer Mount Everest in the near future. Not surprising since the region is famous for producing experienced mountain explorers.

In the village’s only school – Shree Simigaun Primary School, a bold step has been taken to start a mountain climbing class as part of the educational curriculum. The children here, from the Tamang and Sherpa tribes, are reliant on the school for an education and this is their first time learning a new skill outside of the classroom. For children who do not even know the names of the climbing equipment and gear, and proper techniques of climbing, it’s a steep climb ahead for professional mountaineers who have volunteered to teach the children. Will the children be able to achieve their dream?
