В 2012 году компания Triumph решила вступить в схватку с мировыми производителями в классе самых больших турэндуро и выпустила свой флагман Tiger 1200, который тогда еще назывался Explorer.Увы но эта модель,попала в тень таких мотоциклов, как BMW GS, KTM Super Adventure и Ducati Multistrada. Именно эту ситуацию Triumph решила исправить выпустив в этом году самое крупное обновление Tiger 1200 на сегодняшний день!Который получил аж 5 модификаций и был разделен на две четкие категории. Три модели GT ориентированные на дорогу,имеют литые легкосплавные диски, 19 дюймов спереди, 18 дюймов сзади и ход подвески 200 мм. Две раллийные машины имеют спицевые колеса 21 дюйм спереди, 18 дюймов сзади и 220 мм хода подвески, что делает их более ориентированными на бездорожье.
В рамках этих категорий мотоциклы снова разделяются на ‘Pro’ – с 20-литровым баком и обычным кузовом – или "Explorer" с 30-литровым запасом топлива и более мускулистым внешним видом.Самая начальная версия Tiger 1200 GT, лишена большей части оборудования, которое установлено в GT Pro, GT Explorer, Rally Pro или Rally Explorer,отсюда и самая низкая цена,которая начинается за рубежом от 19000 долларов.
