'Self-sufficient': Health Secretary lays out NHS doctor plans - Daily Mail

Jeremy Hunt is set to announce it is time to dramatically expand the number of medical student places to ensure the NHS can be self-sufficient in doctors by 2025. An extra 1,500 students will be taken on in 2018 – a 25 per cent increase on the planned numbers. And for the first time, they will be told that in return for their training – which costs the taxpayer around £220,000 – they will have to work for the NHS for at least four years.
