The Ghost and The Darkness is a true/historical story that took place in Tsavo of Africa. An engineer/hunter must build a bridge to connect the world but all goes wrong when two lions terrorize the town resulting in many workers being slaughtered. He must now work up the courage to face these wild beasts and hopefully destroy them.

What makes this motion picture more extraordinary is the fact that many of the scenes within the film really occurred. Mysticism would be a key element within this story and the theme of facing your fears. There was a strong sense of superstition and the notion of something mystical, and evil taking place in Tsavo during the year of 1898. Two lions behaving in such a manner that was more vicious than usual and behaving in such an intelligent way which left everyone mystified/horrified. It brings up the mystery of nature, man versus the beast and how we must look within ourselves to overcome our demons.

I highly recommend this film for its originality and entertaining action in seeing a poweful animal on the loose while hunters try to overcome this deadly challenge. You can always buy the book as well written by John Henry Patterson called "The Man Eaters of Tsavo" to learn more about his amazing and spooky story into the land of wilderness.
