A lot of people want to know if their baby is measuring bigger, if they'll actually deliver earlier. And the most important thing to remember is that a baby's size does not equate to organ maturity. For example, if a woman is 34 weeks along, but measuring 36 weeks gestation, the baby has only been in there maturing for 34 weeks. And so that means that the baby's lungs, liver, all of the organs, brain, skin, everything is only 34 weeks developed, not 36, even though the baby may be measuring slightly larger than 34 weeks. And so that in an of itself is not a reason to expect your baby to come early.

Although there are underlying causes that may contribute to a large baby. Take maternal diabetes for example. If it's uncontrolled, whether it be gestational, type 1, type 2, whatever the case may be, a baby may be extra big. And if it's really uncontrolled, that can have implications for the baby and the mother, and a doctor may determine that early induction is warranted. But this is a case by case basis, so I suggest talking with your OB provider about it, and based on their knowledge of your circumstances, they'll be able to give you tailored information and advice.
