Legendary Yamaha NS-10M Studio Monitor Speakers

Описание к видео Legendary Yamaha NS-10M Studio Monitor Speakers

I needed some speakers for my new editing computer.
So instead of buying some boring powered bluetooth speakers, I decided to buy these NS-10MX speakers.
Have I made a terrible mistake?

The NS-10M was a legendary speaker from the 1980s used in many recording studios for near field monitors. It became legendary not because they sound good - they don't, but because their rather unusual characteristics forced the recording engineer to focus on what mattered. These monitors will make a poor mix sound absolutely shocking. The story goes that if a mix sounds good on a pair of NS-10Ms, it will sound good on anything.

The MX was the final true monitor version, released in 1993. There was a MT version of 1995 which was ported and intended for home use, but its very different acoustic characteristics mean that it cannot be considered alongside its predecessors.

BTW, there is absolutely ZERO point in recording speakers and then posting it to YouTube. You won't hear what the speakers sound like. You will hear what YOUR speakers sound like. That's why I haven't wasted your time by filming these actually playing.
