Lyrics :-
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
kuchh aur zamaana kehta hai
kuchh aur hai zidd mere dil ki
kuchh aur zamaana kehta hai
kuchh aur hai zidd mere dil ki
main baat zamaane ki maanoon
ya baat sunoon apne dil ki
kuchh aur zamaana kehta hai

duniya ne hamen be-rehmi se
thhukraa jo diyaa achhaa hi kiyaa
thhukraa jo diyaa achhaa hi kiyaa
naadaan hum samjhe baithhe thhe
naadaan hum samjhe baithhe thhe
nibhti hai yahaan dil se dil ki
kuchh aur zamaana kehta hai

insaaf muhabbat sachaai
insaaf muhabbat sachaai
ye rehm-o-karam ke dikhlaawe
kuchh kehte zubaan sharmaati hai
kuchh kehte zubaan sharmaati hai
poochho na jalan mere dil ki
kuchh aur zamaana kehta hai

go basti hai insaanon ki
insaan magar dhoondhe na milaa
insaan magar dhoondhe na milaa
pathhar ke buton se kyaa keejey
pathhar ke buton se kyaa keejey
fariyaad bhalaa toote dil ki
kuchh aur zamaana kehta hai
kuchh aur hai zidd mere dil ki
main baat zamaane ki maanoon
ya baat sunoon apne dil ki
kuchh aur zamaana kehta hai..

The movie is an offbeat social drama, on a theme that was, at least in those decades, was a taboo -- friendly relations between two grown up mature people, outside of their own families.

In the storyline, Motilal is a widower. After retirement, he realizes that his children actually do not want him around, as they are busy with their own lives and own families. He bequeaths his assets to them, keeping enough for his own living, and moves to a village to live alone. Here he meets with Nadira, a young lady with radical views. Their friendship grows, but it becomes an eyesore for the village people, who object and complain to the two of them and to Motilal's family. The story has a sad ending, as Motilal dies of dejection on being misunderstood, and getting isolated in the face his family and society.
This movie is also the swansong of the very talented music director Anil Biswas. This was the last movie for which he composed the music. After this he took retirement from the Bombay film world and moved to Delhi. He continued to be active with Doordarshan and also composed background score for many documentaries.
This song is a wonderful ghazal, rendered so beautifully by Meena Kapoor. On screen, this song is picturized on Nadira. She and Motilal are sitting in a boat. They do not start out together (apparently so since Motilal can be seen in his swimming costume). Nadira is taking a boat ride, and the boatman sees Motilal struggling in the water, and helps him climb aboard the boat. This is the first introduction of these two characters in the story. A conversation happens between Nadira and Motilal, and Nadira then sings this ghazal.

MOTILAL :- Motilal Rajvansh is credited with being among Hindi cinema's first natural actor He was winner of Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award, twice, Devdas(1955) and Parakh (1960)

He was one of the highest paid actors at 30s, 40s & 50s; he had incendiary affairs with the crème-de-crème of the industry at that time, including Nutan's mother & Kajol's maternal grandmother Shobhna Samarth. In fact, both of them even launched Nutan in Humari Beti where Nutan played the title role at the age of 13 or 14 & Motilal played her screen father. It's a shame that we generally avoid him in most of the books on Indian cinema & from the 30s & 40s, the only name today's generation 'might' be knowing is K L Sehgal because of his peculiar voice more than anything else. Anyways, coming back to Motilal, he was equally good & accepted in character roles as he was in the lead. Watch Jaagte Raho & Parakh for instance, he was so comfortable in his space that he literally heaves you into his world & you just wish not to come out of it ever. His watertight rendering of Chunnilal in Devdas is an institution of acting for every aspiring actor till date! Even as a lead, his films like Waqt, Ab Dilli Door Nahi, Humari Beti & Mr. Sampat are the bible of character improvisation & depth.

. Married a 100 times, died almost twice, never born but always brought down by a parachute," said Motilal Rajvansh, the veteran hero of Hindi cinema, on his screen career with characteristic humour.

Even at the age of 50, he was going strong. "I am ahead of our Government because I have a 55-year plan," he said. But little did Motilal realise how prophetic his statement was. At the age of 55, cinema had to bid farewell to its most dapper hero.

Although a thorough gentlemen, he enjoyed gambling and races, and died almost penniless in 1965.
