Sonata for Harp and Flute by Joseph Bologne

Описание к видео Sonata for Harp and Flute by Joseph Bologne

Joseph Boulogne (or Bologne), Chevalier de Saint-Georges (1745-1799) was a French violinist, composer, conductor and fencer. He was the first classical composer of African descent to attain acclaim in European music. I love that the original title for this piece is "Sonata for Harp with Flute Accompaniment"! Harp so often plays the role of accompaniment it is refreshing to have the roles reversed. Although originally written for pedal harp I have arranged it to be playable on the lever harp. This recording was from a flute and harp concert that Ariane Jarosch and I gave last June.
