Five officials in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation have been suspended over alleged swindling of tax money. Mayor explained that those officials were corrupt and they failed to deposit the cash in bank. The Mayor also added that she will bring it to the notice of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
In a council meet convened to ban plastic in the corporation limits, the opposition BJP and congress members protested in the hall.
As the BJP and Congress began protesting in the meeting hall, Mayor explained that those officials who have been suspended were corrupt and stern action would be taken against them after detailed inquiry.
The Mayor also added that no one would lose their house tax they have paid. But the opposition said that they would intensify their protest as the explanation of Arya Rajendran was not convincing.
BJP district President VV Rajesh said that a mafia is there in the Corporation that swindles house tax collected and that they are headed by the ruling Communist Party.
He also added that the Mayor always mocks the opposition’s protests as she is still immature.
