The Theme song for "What's Happening!!" is written by Henry Mancini. His works include the theme and soundtrack for the Peter Gunn television series as well as the music for The Pink Panther film series ("The Pink Panther Theme") and "Moon River" from Breakfast at Tiffany's. The Music from Peter Gunn won the inaugural Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Mancini enjoyed a long collaboration in composing film scores for the film director Blake Edwards. Mancini also scored a No. 1 hit single during the rock era on the Hot 100: his arrangement and recording of the "Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet" spent two weeks at the top, starting with the week ending June 28, 1969.

What's Happening!! is an American sitcom television series that first aired on ABC from August 5, 1976, premiering as a summer series. Thanks to the show's popularity, and with the failure of other shows, it eventually returned as a weekly series, that later aired for the rest of the three seasons, from November 13, 1976, to April 28, 1979. Created by Eric Monte (of Good Times), What's Happening!! was loosely based on the film Cooley High. It was television's first African-American show that dealt with teenagers, which was also a groundbreaking sitcom.

Aug 11, 2025 - Danielle Louise Spencer (June 24, 1965 – August 11, 2025) was an American actress best known for her role as Dee Thomas on the ABC sitcom What's Happening!!, which ran from 1976 until 1979. She reprised the role on the series' sequel, What's Happening Now!! After her acting career, Spencer became a veterinarian.
