The global health knowledge landscape was evolving rapidly. Advances in digital platforms, growing data availability, and stronger community engagement were reshaping how information was created and shared. New voices beyond traditional institutions were contributing more actively, making knowledge generation more inclusive. Yet these shifts did not benefit everyone equally. Rural and remote communities continued to face barriers due to the digital divide, and the rise of decentralized communication created new risks as misinformation spread quickly without trusted intermediaries.

This World Health Summit 2025 Global Health Lab lunch session – co-hosted by Global Health Matters (GHM) – explored how to bridge the knowledge divide and foster more equitable access to trustworthy global health information. The session was moderated by Garry Aslanyan (WHO). It examined what types of knowledge could be shared, how they could be communicated responsibly, and which approaches ensured that communities everywhere benefited from reliable insights.

Speakers Monica Bharel (Google) and Joy Phumaphi (African Leaders Malaria Alliance, ALMA) discussed strategies to strengthen credibility, enhance access, and support more inclusive participation. They explored how cross-sector collaboration, community-centered communication, and emerging tools such as artificial intelligence could help reduce disparities and build trust.

The session highlighted how a more inclusive knowledge ecosystem could empower communities to take informed action and contribute meaningfully to global health decision-making.
