It's been a year of change and evolution for Brian Cid. After starting off with his 'Be One' EP on Endangered, and further releases on Bar 25 and Infinite Depth, he's also moved to Berlin, and recently resumed touring after a self-imposed break. To close out 2021, Brian comes full circle with 'Time Is Liquid' and a return to his Endangered label.

Here is the background of the project from Brian's own words:

'Time is liquid and forever changing, adjusting & shaping itself to fulfill our deepest unconscious desires. Time gives us life, as water does, purifying our dusty karmic energy. I consider this project another chapter of the evolution of my sound. I believe that I slide into interesting territories never explored before. This EP reflects the manifestation of my deepest expression of self-empowerment. A very minimal musical approach, yet filling and grandiose. A true intergalactic flight.

My intention was to show a bit more of my rhythmic roots, in conjunction with my forward thinking approach in the world of sounds. I am playing with different possibilities of colors and shades going from subtle movement to intense distortion, from loops to chord progressions. Complex rhythms, patterns, and breaks that will pull you inside a blackhole, making sense to the underlying story of my curious mind.

For the first time I was conscious about adding subtle merengue rhythms played with the sounds of a traditional Dominican tambora, one of its most prestigious percussive instruments and one of deep impact. The very root of this island's rhythmic pattern. This idea can be clearly experienced in 'Nostalgia' and 'Bayahibe', which by the way, is named after one of the most beautiful tropical beaches on this planet, Playa Bayahibe. This is my way to honor the land that saw me flourish, giving me so much.

A sudden experimental left turn takes place in the track 'Sombras Amigas'. A play of acoustic piano with a very housey timber and a thick grungy synth bass that breaks the barrier of time as they interact in sync with each other as two lovers dancing. 'Sombras Amigas' has been designed to be played at a very specific time and place. It was created live during one of my last Masterclasses, so up and coming producers and engineers were able to see and experience my writing process. It's an honor to now make it available to you all. This is the true essence of our Endangered sound. Enjoy it!'
