The World's Hardest Speedrun

You're watching the extremely complex co-op speedrun. Full walkthrough of Left 4 Dead 2 was done in 41:53 (IGT). It took us almost 4 years to complete this difficult challenge. All our game knowledge has collected in this film.

ＳＴＯＲＹ：
Right after the last co-op speedrun in 2017 we wondered about creation of something more, than everyone used to see. Previous runs started getting a bit monotonously, we didn't want to make speedruns by campaigns anymore. The idea included avoid the custom HUD and music, if possible. But anyway we planned not really classic speedrun though. This project was classified, everyone thought, that we were inactive. Eventually... it cost a lot of time to realize our dreams.

ＳＰＥＥＤＲＵＮ ＤＥＴＡＩＬＳ：
Presented speedrun is tool-assisted (TAS) and not 100% optimized. Most of the player inputs were saved and executed through the Movement Reader server plugin. Also, there were RNG manipulations with Director spawns on the map to get the necessary inventory and infected positions. This project started almost 4 years ago, long before the Last Stand update – all footage is recorded in the 2.1.5.5 game version.

Originally, scripted speedruns for Left 4 Dead series are considered enough difficult to record and take a long to implement proper optimization due to the co-op gameplay, the number of various ways of the playthroughs and presence the huge amount of the random. The programming languages Squirrel and SourcePawn were mostly used to write various tools (such like Speedrunner Tools) and map-related scripts.
