My Advanced Facelift Postoperative Results and Remarks Part III

Part III - Remarks regarding Chris' Advanced Facelift Procedure that was 5 months ago.

Chris had the Advanced Facelift Patient and Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty procedure by Dr. Jon Mendelsohn

In general, a face-lift involves elevating the skin and tightening the underlying tissues and muscles. Fat in the face and neck may be sculpted, removed or redistributed. Facial skin is then re-draped over the newly repositioned contours of the face, excess skin is removed, and the wound is stitched or taped closed.

The deep plane facelift is generally considered the most comprehensive and long lasting type of facelift. This facelift involves the layer of muscles under your facial skin. These muscles are responsible for much of the drooping or sagging you may experience in your face as you age.

You should look and feel normal after 2 – 4 weeks. Keep in mind that facelift surgery cannot stop natural aging, so we encourage patients to continue to take care of their skin and make healthy lifestyle choices.

A facelift will provide much more long-lasting results than non-surgical options. Most surgeons say a facelift or necklift will “last” about 8-10 years.

Dr. Jon Mendelsohn is a gifted Cincinnati facial plastic surgeon who has helped thousands of facelift patients achieve a more youthful and refreshed appearance. He uses the most advanced techniques in his Advanced Lift facelifting procedure to help patients erase the signs of aging — including deep folds and sagging skin, jowls, and neck.  The results of this face lift technique create a natural and more refreshed appearance.

She had a facelift, you know? I mean, you're just like, okay, she she looks really good for her age, you know, like, but I don't think anybody would really. So my daughter that turned 16 today, she when I came home, she had a lot of concerns for how I looked at first, you know, the very first couple of days, I think she expected me to look really distorted and kind of rough, but I don't think she expected, you know, like one week and two weeks out to still really have kind of that alien look.

And I'll be honest, it it was difficult for myself as well. I think I knew it was just a matter of time, though, but for her, I think she thought she just kept thinking, you don't look like my mom anymore. But now she thinks I look fantastic, you know, and she she's completely fine with it. It really didn't last a long time. Her her anxiety, I guess, because then we kind of made light of it and, you know, it just became kind of a joke.

So but it was a little bit rough on her for a couple of days there. So I feel really happy with the results. I think for myself it did take longer for me to get to feeling that confidence. I knew I was going to get there. So, I mean, it wasn't something where I had regret, but it was something where I thought it took longer than what I thought it was going to take. I think a lot of that has to do with you have to remember, I, I not only did I do the advanced lift, but I also did the under dot and the upper left.

So I kind of did a lot at one time. So and I just wanted to I knew there was there's downtime with each of it and I'm like, if I'm going to be down, just put me down because I don't do downtime well. So I like to be, you know, I'm a busy person, active person. And so I'm like, if I'm going to be down, let's just be down and get it all done and then be done with it all.

As far as kind of the firmness, there is still some firmness and some numbness, but that's where I felt like things started to soften and really become more symmetrical and settle into place for what I would say is the final result.

If Dr. Mendelsohn recommends filler at any point down the road, I wouldn't be opposed to doing that. But definitely I'm not opposed to other procedures based on his recommendations for the consult. Doctor Mendelsohn does a great job of just kind of talking you through it, putting you at ease.

I really felt like at that time, I honestly wasn't sure if I was, you know, if I was ready to do it at that time. But when the opportunity came up, I think that's where, you know, based on how he went through everything, I, I just felt like now was the right time. But I really feel like he does a good job of explaining everything and putting you at ease. So, you know, I think that's a good process.
