A visit to Nagoya Castle and the AMAZING Honmaru Palace!

Nagoya Castle is one of Japan's most prominent castles and for good reason! It is a Japanese designated National Historic Site and just beautiful to look at. As unfortunately there is some refurbishment done and the Castle itself will not be accessible for a few years.

However, this place is still well worth visiting if you find yourself in Nagoya, especially for the “Honmaru Palace”! Although this Palace was destroyed in WW2 it has been carefully replicated with Japanese artists and craftsmen using only traditional techniques, and to be honest, if I had not known I would have thought it is the original. With its beautiful wall paintings and gold finish, every room in this spacious palace has a story to tell and the paintings change accordingly. Definitely, a must-visit if you find yourself traveling in central Japan and stopping over in Nagoya!
