By getting hitched against the odds, these couples prove that love really can conquer all.

In this episode:

Ian and Karen, from Scunthorpe, had been together 3 years when their lives took a dramatic turn. At the age of 46 Karen suffered a stroke which left her without her voice. She suffers from Aphasia, a condition which means she struggles to find the right words and form sentences. Since their engagement last December, the couple have been working together to help Karen with her speech, in the hope that she will be able to say her all-important vows on their wedding day.

Will and Amy met on Valentine’s Day four years ago. Just one year into their relationship, Will was rushed to hospital having suffered a bleed on the brain. Doctors warned Amy he would be lucky if he survived, but Will exceeded expectations. However, during his recovery, it became apparent that his memory had been affected. Will struggles to retain any new memories since his brain injury; from the details of when he proposed to Amy to the fact that he’s already brushed his teeth, meaning he does it up to eight times a day! The couple are now doing all they can to help Will train his brain so that he can remember the biggest day of his life.
