We are beginning another new lesson this week entitled, Audience Relevance. This study is going to change the way you read and interpret the scriptures forever. There is so much confusion today about the return of Jesus Christ and all the events that the Bible said would accompany Christ's return. This confusion comes from the misinterpretation of the scriptures, by the error of not applying audience relevance to the text. When you apply audience relevance to the scriptures, you will begin to see how past fulfillment is the only interpretation that makes proper hermeneutical sense. Audience relevance will put a stop to the mistake of misapplying scriptures to a modern-day, futuristic fulfillment, and will anchor the context back to the original audience who received the words, back in the first century. Without applying audience relevance, people have injected themselves and their own generation into the interpretation of the last days, when the Bible was clearly dealing with the audience of the first century, and their generation, when speaking of the last days. We all need to be more like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, who received the word with all readiness of mind and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. No other person is accountable for your destiny, except you. You will be held to account for your own choices and the life that you live here in the body. Are you going to take someone else's word about the Truth of scripture or are you going to search the matter out for yourself? Jesus said, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:17) That the Spirit of Truth will guide you into all Truth (John 16:13). For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (Romans 8:14) Be not deceived, God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galatians 6:7) If you are not willing to first listen, and then study, to prove for yourself what sayeth the scriptures, you create in yourself the inability to grow. Truth will always bring you to the crossroads of decision, are you willing to follow the Truth, even if you have to leave the comfort of familiar traditions behind? Are you willing to lay aside man-made doctrines and the confusion it produces, and allow the Word of God to speak freely into your heart? Get your Bible out and study along!
