The Trieste Conservatory big band between modernity and tradition

In 2012 Klaus Gesing, teacher of improvisation and saxophone at the Tartini Conservatory in Trieste, he founded the Big Band Tartini. The band's repertoire ranges from Duke Ellington and Count Basie, to the contemporary jazz Maria Schneider and Chick Corea. Special importance is given to the presentation of the songs composed by students of the Jazz Conservatory, which are important in the Big Band "gym" for dealing with techniques of composition, orchestration and arrangement.

Nel 2012 Klaus Gesing, insegnante d'improvvisazione e sassofono presso il Conservatorio Tartini di Trieste, ha fondato la Big Tartini Band. Il repertorio della Band spazia da Duke Ellington e Count Basie, fino al jazz contemporaneo di Maria Schneider e Chick Corea. Speciale importanza viene data alla presentazione dei brani composti dagli studenti del Corso di Jazz del Conservatorio, che nella Big Band trovano un'importante "palestra" per confrontarsi con tecniche di composizione, orchestrazione ed arrangiamento.
