The Shadows - Apache

This is the 6th video in this series, taken from a recent two day recording session for a Shadows album one of my bands is working on.

Apache is an absolute beauty of a track, I guess the most famous of all The Shadows tracks. The original drum part is wonderful, and blends with the rest of the band perfectly. It's huge fun to play, and whenever I've performed this live (which I have done on many occasions now) it always goes down a treat. I have always loved the full stop that comes in near the end - the snare note ringing out suddenly in total silence. When the band gets this spot on live, it is a real goosebump moment. The whole thing is an intricate drum performance, and I absolutely love playing it.

The backing track is original Shadows, with the drums (mostly) removed. So what you hear on this video is 95% my drums, and just a few artefacts from the original drums. I used XTrax Stems II software. Please listen with quality headphones if you can!
