This is a two-hour walk from Cutteslowe to Kidlington. Some of it goes through land visited last week during my Water Eaton episodes. Starting at Harefields just north of Sunderland Avenue, I walk through Cutteslowe Park and onto a footpath to Water Eaton Manor. From the manor, I take the route I did last week. However, once I reach the houses near the end of Water Eaton Lane, I turn right rather than left. This brings me to Bicester Road. I then follow footpaths and cut-throughs, coming eventually to St. Mary's Church in Kidlington old village, with its attractive stone houses and walls. I walk back along Church Street until it joins High Street, then turn right, go a few yards, and celebrate in the Kings Arms with a pint of Vale Gravitas and another of Shotover Porter. The pub, friendly and welcoming, won a Town & Village Pub Of The Year 2025 award from Oxford CAMRA, and served me two very nice pints, so I'll be stopping there again. Things noted during the trip include housing styles around Harefields and in Kidlington and Gosford, Cutteslowe Park's rideable model railway, how Oxford suburbs might have looked before their houses, St. Mary's Church, a nifty beer-glass design, and the footpaths themselves, with their variety of greenery. Least favourite insect of the week: horsefly.
