Lieutenant General Asim Munir Will Be Pakistan's Next Army Chief

Lieutenant General Asim Munir was chosen as Pakistan's new Army chief on Thursday. Munir had served in Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He will succeed General Qamar Javed Bajwa, whose term is scheduled to end on November 29. Bajwa's retirement comes after a three-year extension. He had ruled out seeking another extension. Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was picked as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC).
