Licensure typically involves completing an approved Pharm. D (Doctor of Pharmacy), then passing two licensing examinations:
1- The North American Pharmacist Licensing Exam (NAPLEX), step 2 below, and
2- The Multi-State Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam (MPJE).
I’ve been getting a lot of messages and comments here and on Facebook asking me what the process is of becoming a pharmacist in US and what it looks like to be a pharmacist, do I prescribe if not then what do I actually do.
Pharmacists: advise other healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses, on how to choose medicines and use them correctly. ensure that new medicines are safe to use with other medication. advise on dosage and suggest the most appropriate form of medication such as tablet, injection, ointments, or inhaler.
If you're a foreign graduate you need to take 5 steps to be a registered pharmacist in the USA.
STEP # 1 Take the TOEFL
