The session begins with an introduction to the S34I project's goals—ensuring the responsible supply of critical raw materials essential to Europe’s green and digital transitions. The University of Salamanca presents its research on the use of VNIR-SWIR spectroscopy to support the prospecting, exploration, and exploitation of ore deposits, with a detailed case study from the Aramo Plateau in Asturias. Their work emphasizes the determination and validation of spectral signatures for copper, cobalt, and nickel, and showcases how these signatures can be used in various stages of mineral exploration.

Following this, experts from IGME and GeoExplorer.es introduce the TEM (Transient Electro-Magnetic) methodology, a novel technique they describe as "electro-magnetic sieving." Their case study, focused on beach placer deposits in Vigo, Spain, demonstrates how this method has been applied to identify and validate heavy mineral layers, offering promising results for future exploration efforts.
