Chordplay - Walking Between The Chords

Описание к видео Chordplay - Walking Between The Chords

Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Chordplay with Walking Between The Chords. This lesson focuses on an interesting/inspiring jazz comping style where we're mixing walking bass lines and single note movements with chord "hits" and jazzy progressions.

This style of playing was pioneered by the late-great jazz guitar legend Joe Pass and has been further reworked/explored by other phenomenal players such as George Van Eps, Tuck Andress, and Charlie Hunter (to name a few).

This lesson casually introduces this concept of rhythm playing and takes you through a series of simple exercises and two-chord comping patterns until the basic idea and skills are established. Then we're selecting specific jazzy bass lines and adding chord "hits" and progressions to the mix. Finally, the lesson finishes by taking a look at the extended walking bass jam that opens this episode.

If you're searching for some new rhythm guitar ideas and challenges to explore, not to mention getting your hands dirty with a handful of standard and common jazz guitar chords, voicings, and progressions - this lesson is totally for you!
