Touching the Future: A Hands-on Experience with Augmented Intelligence in Anatomic Pathology

Описание к видео Touching the Future: A Hands-on Experience with Augmented Intelligence in Anatomic Pathology

Recent developments in machine learning promise to revolutionize many areas of daily life, however, medicine, and especially the field of pathology, has been slow to adapt to and incorporate these changes. In this lecture, I will talk briefly about an early experiment utilizing machine learning in anatomic pathology and discuss some of the technical, regulatory, economic, and ethical challenges in implementing augmented intelligence in the practice of anatomic pathology. I further make a series of predictions about where technological developments will lead us in the near future.
After viewing this lecture, participants should be able to:
1. Understand how machine learning differs from colloquial conceptions of artificial intelligence and its promise as a augment to medical practice
2. Explain the key challenges to implementing augmented intelligence in anatomic pathology
3. Have a grasp of potential changes in the practice of anatomic pathology over the next decade
