BY FAR the most complete and comprehensive version of the 1970 NFC Championship game that you will ever see/hear. It took me about two weeks to put this all together.

I've taken the CBS-TV broadcast of the 1970 NFC Championship game and replaced the audio with two different radio broadcasts of the game which I've synched up to the action throughout.

A few years back I was given the entire radio broadcast of the game by Bill Fox, who recorded the KSFO-560 49er radio broadcast with Lon Simmons and Hugh McElhenny that day in 1971. Twice during the radio recording he switched the station to KCBS-74 which was broadcasting the CBS radio version of the game with Ray Geracy and Bob Reynolds. The CBS radio broadcast makes up 41 minutes total of the entire game broadcast. Having two different radio broadcasts occur during different times in the game adds a nice contrast to the overall experience.

Thanks very much Bill!

In addition to the different audio, I've also incorporated ALL NFL Films footage of the game that I have as either replays or during actual live-action. This too adds an entirely new layer to the game, as the original broadcast doesn't contain many replays, nor does it capture great zooms and angles like NFL Films did that day.

I've added a constant on-screen down/distance/quarter/score graphic in the lower-left.

Last, but not least, I have removed ALL TV commercials from the broadcast, as well as ALL on-screen CBS graphics such as score, TV program advertisements, etc. I wanted all footage to be completely raw and unencumbered by ads.

Unfortunately the TV recording ends with 1:45 remaining in the 4th quarter. There are 5 total plays at the end which I did not have footage for, and so I utilized some creative editing to showcase these. The radio calls are of course present for these missing plays.

Unfortunately also, there is major tape damage present during the last part of the 4th quarter TV recording. Still, it is amazing that we have almost the entire game, most of it in very nice quality considering it is 51 years old. The majority of the first half especially is stupendous quality.
