The Saab 29 Tunnan (The Barrel), colloquially also Flygande Tunnan (The Flying Barrel), is a Swedish fighter that was designed and manufactured by Saab in the late 1940s. It was the second turbojet-powered combat aircraft to be developed in Sweden, the first being the Saab 21R, and it was the first Western European fighter to be produced with a swept wing post World War II, only being preceded in Western Europe as a whole by the Me 262 built during the war. Despite its rotund appearance, from which its name is derived, the J 29 was fast and agile and served effectively in both fighter and fighter-bomber roles into the 1970s.
The J 29 was fast and agile, and set the world speed record on a 500 km closed circuit in 1954 at 977 km/h. Two S 29C (reconnaissance variant) additionally set an international speed record of 900.6 km/h over a 1,000 km closed-circuit course in 1955.
In May 1967, the fighter versions of the Tunnan was retired from combat service; however, a number of aircraft were retained and reconfigured for use as countermeasures trainers and for target towing duties into the 1970s. In August 1976, the last official military flight was performed at the Swedish Air Force's 50th anniversary air show.

The Armed Forces Air Venture 2024

The 24 August is the Armed Forces Air Venture 2024, hosted by Ronneby Air Wing this year.
Come and see air shows and ground exhibitions and displays and learn about the work that is being done to defend Swedish airspace from violations and to protect your freedom to live the way you choose. You will be able to meet and greet our pilots, officers, soldiers and other personnel and have a close look at our joint defence efforts.
Programme
Air shows with military, civilian and veteran aircraft are on the agenda. There will also be a demonstration of a tactical feature with aircraft, helicopters and soldiers, with the purpose of showing how these can be used together.
