I am not a Politician । S Jaishankar । Indraprastha

No one in my family is in politics till date.

The first time I dealt with Modi Ji, I was the ambassador to China at that time, he was the Chief Minister.

By then I had become the Ambassador to America, he had become the Prime Minister.

We met in June and then his visit to America, you know, was very famous, it was his speech in Madison Square.

And the next year I was elected Foreign Secretary,

So I served in that responsibility for three years.

After the 2019 elections, he called me.

At that time, my effort in the swearing-in ceremony was to get at least one chair, so that I could also see who was being elected.

I had never even dreamed that he would want me to come into politics and that too to become a minister and that too the Minister of the Ministry of External Affairs.

I was also proud that I joined his team.
