Located in Chikmagalur district in Karnataka, India, on the bank of the river Tunga, it is the Southern Āmnāya Pītham amongst the four Pīthams.
The other three peethams are Dvārakā Śāradā Pītham (Gujarat) West, Purī Govardhana Pīṭhaṃ (Odisha) East, Badri Jyotishpīṭhaṃ (Uttarakhand) North,
Sringeri Temple Complex is largely divided into two main parts.
First part, where you reach via Rajgopuram (Main Entrance) also known as Sringeri Temple Complex. In this part lies prominent temples including Shardamba Temple, Sri Vidyashankara Temple, Jagadguru Shri Chandrashekhara Bharathi Sabhabhavan where Aksharabhyasa takes place.
Sri Vidyashankara Temple: This temple was built in 1338 AD by Harihara I and Bukka Raya I of the Vijayanagara Empire for their two Shankaracharya Ji. 12 pillars inside it are marked by the twelve signs of the zodiac in their regular order.
Another important site here is of Sri Kappe Shankaralinga Temple on the bank of Tunga river where Śrī Ādi Śaṅkara saw a snake protecting a pregnant frog under its hood from the scorching heat. Moved, Śrī Ādi Śaṅkara decided to set up first Matha at this place.
Second part is connect to the first part with a Vidya Setu Bridge built over Tunga river. In this part lies Sringeri Matha, the present-day seat of the current Shankaracharya Ji

Vidya Setu Bridge Timings: It remains open from morning at 9:00 am till 12 o’clock. Then it remains closed from 12:00 pm till 5:00 pm. Then it is reopened.

Aksharabhyasa, or Vidyarambha: It is a Seva performed at the Sri Sharada Temple in Sringeri, and is typically held from 8 AM–1 PM. However, it is performed on all days for the convenience of devotees.
Children who are able to speak and understand, between the ages of 2.5 and 5, are eligible for Aksharabhyasa
Free Annaprasad: Dining Hall is situated in the temple complex where devotees get free Prasad. Timing of the Prasad is as following: 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm (Afternoon) and 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm (Evening)
Accommodation: We had our stay at the Yatri Niwas complexes made by Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham. First of all, you do your booking here by paying accommodation fees at Sharada Facilitation Centre located outside close to main Rajgopuram of the temple.
Room range at Sringeri Matha varies from Rs. 400 to Rs.1000/- as per your requirement.
There are 3-4 Yathri Niwas and you get rooms in these rooms after booking them from Sharada Facilitation Centre.
