Wheeler Peak - Highest Point of New Mexico!

Continuing my journey to summit the highest point of all 50 states of the United States (Plus Washington DC & Puerto Rico) with New Mexico - The Land of Enchantment!

Wheeler Peak is the highest point of the state of New Mexico, with a peak elevation of 13,167 ft above sea level. The high point is located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains (part of the Rocky Mountains) near Taos, NM. The total hike is about 8.5 miles with an elevation gain of 3,000 ft to the summit.

This is the first time I've climbed above 13,000 ft elevation on a hike.
