Bryce Canyon National Park | Ultralight Camping & Exploring Hoodoos

Описание к видео Bryce Canyon National Park | Ultralight Camping & Exploring Hoodoos

This is Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. Here’s a couple things you should know: 1) Bryce Canyon is one our smallest national parks and 2) it’s not really a canyon - it’s a series of cliffs starting from the Grand Canyon and extending north. A canyon is a deep ravine carved by a river, but not Bryce Canyon - everything you see is limestone shaped by eons of rain and ice including Hoodoos. We try our hands at exploring hoodoos, horseback riding, hiking and ultralight camping in the backcountry. FYI - Thor’s Hammer is one of the most famous of 2,000 hoodoos in Bryce Canyon National Park.

Ultralight Backpacking in Bryce Canyon:    • Ultralight Backpacking in Bryce Canyon
We are hiking down Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. When we get to the bottom, we’ll be looking for a place to camp that we hope includes water. Park rangers warned us to keep an eye out for wildlife like rattlesnakes and mountain lions. The most important thing to do is to find is a spot that’s already naturally sheltered so that you have some sort of protection against the elements.

Bryce Canyon Horseback Riding:    • Bryce Canyon Horseback Riding
We’ll be getting a closer look at these from the back of a moving horse. When you head down into the canyon, things are rugged, wild and bone dry. Things get really interesting once we get out onto the canyon wall.
