1960 Triumph TR3A Test Drive

This 1960 Triumph TR3A was purchased by the seller in November 1996 in Knoxville, Tennessee where the car remains today. Over the last two years it has undergone a refurbishment that included a repaint and interior refresh as well as mechanical work. Power is from a 1,991cc inline-four with rebuilt SU carburetors paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. An engine tune-up was completed in October 2018, and other work in the last two years has included rebuilding the brake and clutch cylinders, installing new wiring, brake lines, fuel lines, and more.

The exterior was repainted in Old English White in 2017, and close-ups of the finish are provided in the photo gallery below. The body remained on the frame for the work, with all body panels and trim as well as the interior and engine removed.

Jaeger instruments are housed in a matching red dash behind a 3-spoke banjo steering wheel which has been fitted with a new control head. The 1,991cc overhead-valve four features twin SU carburetors which were rebuilt within the last two years, and an engine tune-up was completed in October 2018. The ignition was adjusted in February 2019, and a new starter and solenoid were installed at that time. Shifting is through a 4-speed manual gearbox, and the clutch master and slave cylinders have been rebuilt.
