In this video number {1243B} SMD ceramic capacitor color and capacitance range. I explained what is relation of smd capacitor body color and capacitance value. to determine the exact value of any smd chip capacitor or MLCC muli-layer ceramic capacitor or multi-layer laminated capacitor, we need to find size code (length, width and thickness).
if all capacitor are made with same dielectric material. then the color remains same. moreover, this categorization, which i discussed in my video. it is my own evaluation that whenever i check these colours are dedidated to that capacitance ranges. NP0 dielectric material is highly stable (most of time it is in picofarad). capacitors made from X7R materials, are slightly less stable than NP0 (light brown or close to yellow color, in nanofarad range)
Y5V or Z5U capacitors (brown, dark brown or black color, high capacitance and less stable)
but it is not a strict rule.
white, creamy, or bluesh white capacitor body is known as class 1 capacitors, (NP0, C0G ceramics). These are very low capacitance, from 1 pF to hundreds of picofarades. these are used in high frequency circuits as oscillators, switching circuits.
Yellow, light brown body capacitors are categorized as class 2 (X7R, X5R ceramics) are usually light brown. These are in the nF .. microfarads range. these are used in filters.
Brown, Dark Brown and Black capacitors are named as class 3 capacitors (Y5V, Z5U ceramics). high in capacitance generally in microfarades. most likely these are used as smoothing capacitors in dc rails.
