EXPLUR CO Ep. 5 Arkansas River Valley camping: exploring, and paddleboarding down the Ark.

Join the family as we explore some of the area around Rincon Campground on a typical Arkansas River Valley summer day.

We start the day off with a nice breakfast on the river, on a windy but ultimately very nice morning. With what looks to be a very nice day, we decide to explore some of the area around the campsite.

First we visit an abandoned train tunnel since the girls really wanted to check it out after driving by it the previous day. Not only a pretty cool diversion, there was also some interesting graffiti on the inside. Though I'm not one to endorse illegal graffiti, it's hard not to revel in the artistic abilities these artists have.

Second stop we decided to spend lunchtime down on the river and enoy cooling off and playing around. The girls get some "behind the lens" time and you get to see Penny dive for rocks. Nothing beats letting go of the clock and spending time on the river with family.

After our morning exploring, we decide to take a couple runs down the Ark on one of our paddleboards. Rincon Campground is on one of the more gentle stretches of river and with the water flows low enough, it was safe enough to take the kids down for a ride. Kendall and I didn't make it as smoothly as Kora and I did but, it was a blast regardless.

This was a fun trip and though we had to contend with fireless evenings (the fire danger was real in the summer of 2020), it just meant we spent more day light hours adventuring.

Though a great base camp, we probably won't stay at Rincon much in the future. This campground is just too busy for our liking, regardless of the on river access it provided.
