What Midsummer in Latvia is like

Описание к видео What Midsummer in Latvia is like

Although the summer solstice falls on the 21st or 22nd of June, the actual Latvian celebration of midsummer occurs on the 24th, known as Jāni.

Last summer I found myself in the countryside of Latvia, where I participated in a traditional celebration of Jani (midsummer).

We soaked up so much sunlight and danced to traditional Latvian folk songs around a bonfire. The sun only set for three hours and I witnessed the softest morning glow over a dewy meadow. Frogs croaked through the night and birds harmonized in the morning. It was pure bliss. I’ve never felt such a deep connection with nature until that moment. It was a pure and honest gathering in celebration of nature and the Earth’s rotation.

I hope you enjoy this special documentation of mine :)
