Penumbra: Overture is a survival horror game developed by Frictional Games and released in 2007. It is heavily inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, and as such has many key Lovecraftian elements. In this video, I pick them apart.

Howard Phillips Lovecraft was an American author who pioneered the genres of cosmic horror and the posthumously titled "Lovecraftian" horror. Some of his most famous creations include Great Cthulhu, Nyarlathotep, Yog-Sothoth and the rest of the Cthulhu Mythos. Many video games have been inspired by Lovecraft - but which is most faithful to his work?
