It's time to install your G.E. Simon XT Security System from Protect America.
First up, locate your packing slip to verify the contents of your package.
You can find a list of materials needed as well as other helpful guidelines in the Simon XT easy installation manual.

If you need assistance at any time during the installation, call our toll free number
and speak with one of our helpful installation representatives.
Remove the Simon XT control panel from your package taking care not to disconnect any cables. To connect the backup battery, turn the panel over, locate the two red cables on the back, and connect them. To connect the system transformer, use the provided screwdriver to remove the screw from a non-g.f.c.i outlet, plug in the transformer, and replace the screw.
Locate the phone cord labeled wall on the back of the control panel and plug it into the phone jack.

For home pulse monitored systems, connect the ethernet cable on the back of the panel
to the back of your wireless router.
Take some time to get familiar with your Simon XT. For a list of options and features refer to the easy installation manual. Now let's install your door and window sensors.
Remove each sensor and magnet combination and align them on a table or countertop.
Use the alignment arrows on the sensor and magnet when mounting the device. Each sensor is assigned a number, designated by a label on the back. Take a moment to survey the doors and windows in your home. Decide which points of entry you would like to protect.
Keep in mind, doors, and windows on lower levels and in the rear of the home
are most susceptible to break-ins.

Now let's move on to the installation of the device. Always mount devices on the opening side of the door, not the hinged side. Use the velcro on the back of the device
to mount the sensor near the top of the door. The magnet should be mounted on the frame.
The distance between the sensor and magnet should be less than the width of your forefinger. Press the status button on the control panel to check for sensor openings.
Adjust until the sensor reads closed. Repeat this process on all the doors you wish to have covered.
The same rules apply to windows. Mount the sensors on the window and the magnets on the frame. Be sure the sensor and magnet do not obstruct the window from opening.

And now it's time to install your motion detector. Pop the backplate open to wake the device from sleep mode. The motion should be installed approximately seven feet from the floor in a high traffic area. The last step, call our self-installation department to activate your system. It's important that you complete activation for proper monitoring of your security system.

Congratulations! You've now installed your Simon XT!
