Aims: To develop students’ skills of reading, summarising and paraphrasing; raise their awareness of cultural differences and language barrier in the context of a story “Talking in the New Land”.

Secondary Aims: To further develop students’ speaking abilities.

Personal Aim: Try to follow a Receptive Skill development shape of lesson, while including enough speaking practice in the Pre- and Post-text discussions and writing practice in the Productive Skills Extension Activity. Plan less to give myself more breathing space and not rush students through tasks. Maximise students’ talking time throughout the lesson.
